Module 01 / Sample lesson

Designing Banking Dashboards That Drive Decisions

Begin with the decision, then work back to the information a user needs.

Start by naming the user, the decision and the action that should follow. A portfolio manager deciding which exposures need review has different needs from an analyst investigating a single exception.

Define each KPI, its unit, refresh timing, source and owner. Make missing or stale data visible. Agree acceptance criteria for both expected and exceptional states.

A useful prototype tests whether a user can interpret a change and identify a next step. Visual polish helps, but clear definitions and trustworthy context do the essential work.
